Common Reasons Why LTD Claims Get Denied Part 2

Before you start the process of applying for long-term disability, it’s important to understand the common causes for denied claims.

Long-term disability benefits are denied for many reasons, some of which may be legitimate and some may not be. At Sullivan Law Office, our goal is to help you get the benefits you deserve. That’s why, in our last blog, our long-term disability attorney in Louisville went over the common reasons why LTD claims get denied. Keep reading to learn about more common reasons for denied claims:

#3. Footage From Video Surveillance That is Inconsistent with Your Claim

Be aware that while your claim is being processed and reviewed, it is not uncommon for your insurance companies to send investigators to follow and take video surveillance of you. If you are caught performing activities that aren’t consistent with your disability, your claim may be denied and your benefits terminated. The best way to avoid issues with video surveillance is to make it a point to follow your doctor’s restrictions as stringently as possible.

#4. Missed Deadlines

Whether you are filing for the first time or you are appealing a denied claim, it is of the utmost importance to strictly adhere to deadlines. In most cases, you have 180 days to appeal a denied claim, which you should use to find a long-term disability attorney. If you miss this deadline, you will no longer be able to sue your insurer in federal court. If you want your benefits, you need to pay close attention to deadlines.

If your claim has been denied for any of the above reasons, contact us!
