Is there anything you can do to get your Social Security disability decision faster?
The Social Security disability application process can take months as it is, but even a simple mistake could extend those months into years. Unfortunately, many people who have a disability simply cannot afford to wait months or years to get the benefits they need. Luckily, in our last blog, our Social Security attorney in Louisville went over a couple of possible ways to expedite the SSD process. Keep reading to learn about more things you can do to speed up your SSD claim:
#3. Attorney Advisor Decision
As we mentioned in our last blog, ALJ hearings can cause some pretty big delays, but with an Attorney Advisor Decision, you can avoid the ALJ hearing and get a decision a whole lot earlier. To qualify for an Attorney Advisor Decision, you need to meet one or more of the following criteria:
- You need to be able to prove that the Social Security Administration made a mistake with your claim.
- You have new evidence to support your claim.
- There has been a change in the law that supports your claim.
To request an Attorney Advisor decision, you need to contact your local Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.
#4. Military Service Members
If you became disable while on active duty, you can make a request to have your claim expedited.
Our Social Security attorney has a few more options for an expedited claim to go over with you. If you would like to learn more, please stay tuned for our next blog. As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
